Los Angeles, CA, United States (AHN) – The Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday came up with a proposal to ban the inclusion of a toy in any restaurant meal with high amounts of calorie, salt, sugar or fat.

Board president Ken Yeager said the ban that covers all of McDonald’s Happy Meals will prevent children from getting obese and encourage restaurants to offer more nutritious food to young customers.

The increase in the cost of healthcare, which now averages $2 billion per year, is related to obesity, according to Yeager.

The California Restaurant Association is opposing the ban. Its spokesman, Daniel Conway, said Yeager should ban Xboxes, PlayStations and flat-screem TVs altogether.
